SEO and Issue with Code

SEO is not a profession for tunnel vision, at least not here at San Diego SEO. One cannot merely drive in a straight line to get from point A to point B, which in this case means going from unranked to a top page ranking. An assembly line worker can go on autopilot and have a very productive day. SEO is nothing like that. It’s more like having homework everyday for the rest of your life. It is very time-consuming and always changing.

This is the one field where being a student of what you do is essential. Oddly enough, I recently had a guy on the line who was asking me a lot of questions about code, specifically, Session ID’s (an extension to his URL that deems it “unclean”, which Google does not appreciate). His question was fair enough, but I think he wanted to see if I truly understood what a Session ID does. Well, the truth to it is I do not understand much about a Session ID, nor do I want to. SEO, as I mentioned before, is always on the move, always changing. I know enough about code that I can have my programmer fix these sorts of issues. For me, a URL should be clean. An example of a clean URL is www.Google.com. An example of an unclean URL is www.yahoo.com\mexico?22300499299. These sorts of URLs are rarely if ever indexed by Google. It is essential to clean these up when you get a new client.

While I found the conversation stimulating, it brought up the idea that SEO is too involved for me to worry about each detail and it solidified my current practice of having experts in all fields working alongside me. This way, I can concentrate on bringing top rankings for my clients. So, while I can understand code language and convey it easily, I have no desire to learn the ins and outs of it. My desire is to keep bringing in the results and ROI that all my clients desire and let my expert colleagues worry with the code details.

Finally, if you are a hands-on person, who must do it yourself, Google Webmaster
is a great tool to scan your pages for errors.
