Social Media better than Inbound Links?

Another quick hit: How does social media play into search engine rankings? The jury is still out on this one, in truth. Matt Cutts, of Google, seemed to “nod” in agreement that social media will become more important than inbound links in the future as it is a more reliable way of tracking how many people truly enjoy visiting a particular site. It’s also a natural form of popularity. I think with Social Media, what’s more important than rankings is the fact that you gain traffic naturally and it’s traffic that at least knows somebody that you know. In some respects, it’s more trustworthy than an Algorithm that changes weekly, if not daily, to tweak its search engine results for the better of the searcher.

While I would not recommend halting your SEO campaign for social media, I do encourage more social media use for each of my clients. We offer this service as a part of SEO package and will continue to utilize it as much as possible to drive relevant traffic.
